Pic by Northwest Newspix. The Mayor of Letterkenny has called for more CCTV to be erected at the town’s public park after a teenager was allegedly attacked while walking to school. The girl was reportedly approached from behind at the Bernard McGlinchey Town Park on Tuesday morning at 8.30am.The girl could not hear her attacker come up from behind her as she was listening to music on earphones.Although it was bright, there was a heavy morning fog when the attack happened. The man allegedly grabbed the girl but fled. The girl was uninjured but left traumatised after the incident.Gardai are remaining tight-lipped about the incident but have confirmed they have received a report and are investigating the matter.Mayor of Letterkenny, Cllr Gerry McMonagle said he does not want to cause panic but appealed to young women to be careful while out walking alone. He said this was not the first alleged attack in the park and called for more CCTV to be set up in the area. “The reality is that if a report of an attack has taken place then people should be made aware of it.“This is not the first report of such an attack in the park and we need more CCTV to be installed as a deterrent to prowlers.“I do not want to cause panic but the public has a right to know that there was an incident and to act accordingly,” he said.CALL FOR MORE CCTV AT TOWN PARK AFTER TEENAGE GIRL ALLEGEDLY ATTACKED was last modified: October 2nd, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:attackdonegalGardaiLetterknny Town ParkMayorlast_img
