Linden man slapped with attempted murder charge

first_img…after burning reputed wife with hot waterA Linden man who reportedly burnt his reputed wife with hot water was on Monday charged and remanded to prison for the offence of attempted murder.Leslie Woolford, 41, a cook of Silvertown, Wismar, Linden, appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Linden Magistrate’s Court, where he was arraigned for the offence committed against his reputed wife, Onika Kingston, 38.He was not required to plead to the indictable charge. Woolford, who was unrepresented in court, was also charged with the offence of damage to property. He will make his next court appearance on May 25, 2018.It is alleged that Woolford poured hot rice water on his reputed wife during an argument at their Silvertown home last Thursday. According to Police, Woolford, after committing the act, ran into the Wismar Police Station panting for breath after which he launched into a complaint against the victim. Kingston, a mother of five, remains a patient at the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) nursing burn wounds about her body. She reportedly suffered first- and second-degree burns to approximately 28 per cent of her upper body, including her back, chest, and arms.last_img
